Soccer Mom

Cheering Section

Fortunately for me (and my family), I never had any music recitals! I  probably would have failed miserably at them. However, I was in soccer, and those were fun times! We only won 2 games. The first & the last. We weren’t that great at playing, but we did our very best & had fun at them. I remember that my family would come to the games & even though we weren’t very talented little kids, the parents still cheered us on like we were in the World Cup!

We need families to lift us, support us & encourage us.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World says:

“Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.”

Parable of the Socks

Sometimes we don’t know why we are where we’re at. Its hard to understand that this is  where God wants us to be. few years ago,  I felt that even though where I was at in life was good, but not where I wanted to be.

I felt like whatever gift God has given me was useless, like a box of dirty socks. It was rude and I didn’t want it. Why couldn’t I be more useful?!

So my mom said, “Well.. there are 3 things you can do with that  box of dirty socks…”

Keep the Box
You can kick around that box of dirty socks all the way to Russia- nothing good would come of it but at least you’ll finally be rid of that smelly box.

Give the Box Away
Who needs smelly, dirty socks?? Not me!! So give them away to someone who could possibly need them. And then you won’t have to worry about those dirty socks anymore!

Take Care of Them
The last option is to wash them. Take some time to bleach them ( and make ’em smell pretty!) Then, in the end, if you still don’t want those socks, then at least you did your very best in making them presentable. You could give them to someone else who could use them. Maybe someone who needs socks has something you need in return.

In the end, I realized that those socks are like my talents. Whether I like them or not, doesn’t matter. What I do with them- that’s what counts!

Thus is the parable of the socks.
Which reminds me of another parable that Jesus taught. The one about the money (which is called Talents) He said:

” His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful aservant: thou hast been bfaithful over a few things, I will make thee cruler over many things: enter thou into the djoy of thy lord.”

-Matthew 25:12

Whatever talents you have- you got ’em for a reason! And thank heaven we all don’t have the same talents. Could you imagine a whole world of just socks??  We’d freeze in the winter.
I am so grateful for my socky-talents 🙂
